Flavorful Slow Cooker Sausage and Peppers Dish

Slow Cooker Sausage and Peppers made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 bell peppers red and green, sliced
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 14.5 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Method
 

  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and brown the sausage on all sides.
  2. Transfer the browned sausage to the slow cooker.
  3. Add sliced bell peppers, onion, garlic, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the slow cooker.
  4. Stir to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  6. Serve hot, optionally over rice or in a sub roll.
