Cheesy Jalapeno Popper Puff Pastry Straws made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 fresh jalapenos finely diced
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the filling by mixing the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, jalapenos, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl until well combined.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Cut the puff pastry into strips approximately 1 inch wide.
  5. Spoon a small amount of the filling along one edge of each strip and fold over to enclose.
  6. Brush each straws with the beaten egg.
  7. Place the prepared straws on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let the straws cool slightly before serving.
