Ingredients

  • 1 head of iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen peas, thawed
  • 1/2 cup red onion, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large trifle dish or salad bowl, layer the ingredients in the following order: iceberg lettuce, peas, red onion, cheddar cheese, and bacon.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Spread the dressing mixture evenly over the top of the salad, covering the layers below.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Before serving, top with additional crumbled bacon, shredded cheese, and a sprinkle of fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon.
  • Feel free to add other layers such as diced tomatoes or bell peppers for extra flavor.
