Description
A delicious twist on classic Sloppy Joes, featuring ground beef cooked with caramelized onions and topped with Swiss cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (85% lean)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and let them cook down for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring often, until they’re golden and caramelized.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until it’s fully browned.
- Drain any excess fat, then stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Let everything simmer for another 5 minutes so the flavors come together.
- While that simmers, toast the hamburger buns.
- Scoop the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, top with shredded Swiss cheese, and finish with the top bun.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving, if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, consider adding some hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- These Sloppy Joes can be served with a side of fries or a salad for a complete meal.
