Description

Dabeli Puff Pastry Swirls are a delightful fusion of traditional Gujarati street food and flaky puff pastry, perfect for festive gatherings and parties.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups Potatoes, boiled, peeled, and mashed
  • 2 tablespoons Dabeli Masala
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • For the Pastry:
  • 2 sheets Puff Pastry Sheets
  • For the Finish:
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • For Toppings:
  • Sweet chutney
  • Green chutney
  • Garlic chutney
  • 1/2 cup Finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup Sev
  • 1/2 cup Masala peanuts
  • 1/2 cup Pomegranate seeds

Instructions

  1. Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to package instructions.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the dabeli masala for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add water to create a smooth consistency.
  4. Incorporate the boiled, mashed potatoes and mix well. Cook for 5-6 minutes until the filling is warm and smooth. Let it cool.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets.
  6. Spread the prepared filling on half of the pastry sheet.
  7. Fold the sheet over and roll it into a tight rectangle.
  8. Cut the rolled pastry into strips.
  9. Twist each strip to form spirals.
  10. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  11. Brush the spirals with milk for a golden finish.
  12. Bake for 25-30 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  13. Allow the swirls to cool slightly before serving.
  14. Serve with an assortment of chutneys and your favorite toppings.

  • Garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds for added color and taste.
  • For a vegan option, use plant-based milk and ensure your puff pastry is vegan.
