Description

Carne Guisada is a traditional Mexican beef stew that is hearty, flavorful, and perfect for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 bell peppers, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the beef cubes and brown on all sides.
  3. Remove the beef and set aside. In the same pot, add the onion, garlic, and bell peppers, and sauté until softened.
  4. Add the tomatoes, beef broth, cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper, and bay leaf.
  5. Return the beef to the pot and bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 2 hours or until the beef is tender.
  7. Remove the bay leaf and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
