Description

Beef Lombardi is a comforting family favorite dish that combines ground beef, creamy noodles, and a rich tomato sauce, topped with melted cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can of tomatoes (28 oz), crushed or diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • ½ teaspoon of Tabasco sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 package of cooked egg noodles
  • 1 package of cream cheese (8 oz), softened
  • 6 green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 2 cups of grated cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Make sure to break the beef into small crumbles as it cooks. Once fully browned, drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  2. Add the minced garlic to the beef and sauté for a minute until fragrant. Stir in the canned tomatoes, honey, salt, pepper, Tabasco sauce, and bay leaf. Reduce the heat and allow the mixture to simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, and sour cream. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined and the noodles are fully coated.
  4. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and begin layering the Beef Lombardi. Start with half of the noodle mixture, then spread half of the beef sauce over it. Repeat this process, finishing with a layer of cheddar cheese on top.
  5. Place the dish in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.

Notes

  • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
